Paying a ransom

I’ve composed a series of indirect challenges to the way life is, in the format of a ransom demand. I’ve cut out letters of newspapers and magazines and sticking to canvasses. They are not what they appear to be- I do not want to kidnap or demand money, I’ve got no political agenda, I’m no trouble shooter or some supergrass. It is purely an exercise of wry comments on recycled press coverage strewn in a playful way, wrapped-up in plastic polythene, as if temporary, glossy, superficial and disposable. In my view this rejects taking ‘news worthy’ information seriously, but as primarily a Painter, should words dominate my thinking even in ridiculing a over-dependence on jargon; linguistic McDonald’s and other mind-sapping ‘buzz-words’
