Lights go out and a beating takes place. Still in the dark :

Stopped by a guard bringing a plate with Jimmy's finger with his ring on, and suddenly the laugh together amidst the startled 2 prisoners. And yet they smile at each other and reach over saying this was Jimmy's signal ! The guards look on unbelievingly. JIMMY MADE IT ! HE FUCKIN MADE IT ! COLONEL LEE, WE DID IT!! WE FUCKING DID IT!!! and they keep singing as a beginning of a racket from the other cells of prisoners singing and clattering their metallic cups and bowls on the prison bars "JIMMY ESCAPED JIMMMY ESCAPED OH JIMMY JIMMMY JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY TAILOR !!! Goes on for a couple or minutes enough to drown out the screams and cries of COLONEL LEE and MAJOR FILLER as they are subjected to a traumatic beating. When the beating is over Lee is unconscious but Filler mutters loud enough saying "Well you certainly learnt English today ... you fucking wanker...and he received a kick to the head that knocked him unconcsious.... both are dragged out of the interrogation cell, smeared with blood , leaving a panicked guard sweating away, and pacing the cell !! He was imagining what punishment he'd receive as he had used interrogation as a language class, whilst Jimmy Tailor had escaped !!! He takes his gun and shoots himself in the knee, calls for a guard and then shoots him in the head, screaming in pain ! I guess his guard had been an American spy who arranged Tailor's escape and tried to kill the brave soldier in charge, but he'd fought nobly and even to be promoted....and of course he began to prepare his final coup de grace to his narrative, 'he'd fortunately converted Jimmy Taylor into being a double agent for the great glory of North Korea ! The death of Colonel Lee was just collateral damage ! Taylor had always been the mission, and besides he'd exposed a Korean defector poisoned by the West now fully exposed as a traitor by his own Communist instinct for detection and keeping his nerve he'd made the criminal break cover but had himself taken a bullet for the motherland as well as a knife wound at close quarters...he scoured the room and took the dead guards knife and skewered his own shoulder ,replacing the knife careful (having wiped his fingerprints from the blade) to place the knife in the guards hand without raising any suspicions ! And then panic hit, had he not locked the door? Why couldn't he remember ? Was anyone listening outside? Was the door even sound proofed ? He thrust his hand at the door handle and unlocked the door, sinking to his knees out of terror, the guards broke-in  shouting 'Sergeant Li?  taking the blood splattered on the floor and the dead corpse ' and the Sergeant collapsed in their arms, exhausted. He remained unconscious for 10 minutes awake to say 'he'd managed to fight off a western degenerate Wang, who was highly trained ,beyond the rank of private, but he... and he faints.! Having arrived at a Korean hospital in and out of consciousness he says that he did what he could but he'd exposed a dangerous cell of American spies infiltrating  North Korea..... he later asked a nurse was he delirious at all ? Was he making any sense? Wasn't any of it making any sense ? Because of the trauma he'd experienced ? He was a hero, she said.

10 years later General Li was recruited by the British who had incriminating evidence about the death of Colonel Lee. ironically the General was turned because he thought wrongly that the British had some proof of the death of private Wang and thus the lies about Taylors escape Only then did Taylor volunteer to go undercover as being a North Korean double agent  come home to roost, but actually as a replacement for MI6's Colonel Lee! Captain Taylor's wife and 3 children never saw Taylor again, and were horrified and ostracized by the British Armed forces as part of the stigma of any traitor to Britain. But the family got a mysterious cheque every month for £50,000 from an anonymous donor that the press, without much effort, discovered that it was from a 'General Li' as gratitude for Captain Taylor's service for North Korea ! But MI5 didn't object, they said any hard Western currency given by North Korea  was a substantial expense that they couldn't really afford , and they even suggested asking for a raise ! Besides, his wife was told that it was Jimmy Taylor's way of saying sorry !

All of Taylor's children were recruited by MI5 from a n early age and now all 'worked in the City'. Their mother remarries and claims that 3 of her 5 children were recruited in spite of their father's treason ! She never forgives him ! In 2008 Jimmy Taylor is poisoned according to General Li by suspicious Western backed terrorists, and he leads  a state funeral honouring a fallen North Korean hero ! Colonel Lee and Major Filler don't have a grave ! Upon his death his ex wife still receives £60,000 per month and halts her contributions to a local 'women's shelter', and becomes a magistrate, known for her punitive views.

Years after his official death Captain Taylor, who'd been silent for 20 years in a North Korean Hospice, somehow begins to talk as if he knows when he is going to die. He says 'I refuse to belong to any organisation that has me as a member', and that night sings for the first time in all of his years being an official  dementia victim, singing a long anthem of 2 verses foreign to the staff at the Korean Hospice, and they are startled by his lucidity. They later all agree that he'd been another victim of misdiagnosis and yet they collectively agree that he was raving at the last moments of  his life gripped by dementia !

2 days later, Captain Taylor's eldest son receives a card with a German stamp on  with a drawing of a severed finger and a wedding ring next to an RIP ,saying Finally you old bugger, lots of Lee Wei and lots of Filler, with a message that reads You will get a telephone call very soon; DON'T ANSWER IT ! Uncannily, seconds later, the phone rings on his mobile and on his land line simultaneously, his son (aged 7) picks up the landline and says This is the Taylor's residence, please leave a message until Mummy or Daddy can phone back !  Left bewildered, he remembers how he was recruited for MI5, when  he was his son's age , but something didn't feel right ! He anticipates and goes on line behind various codes and tests to reach his handler, and there is a message that he reads once and then it disappears, that says : Do you want to know how Private Wang died '?  " David ? How can I help ? " said his handler's voice.
