Defences

Gull luring a reef rip
and the intestines of the green-bobbing carcase that fractures land
make the slit of waves mind the violent cargo
of flooded wrapped fierce and yet folded
into this spilled sprawl frothing only out the mouth upon the tongue of
those ageing pummelled shelves
why skulking mounts amongst stilled fiction
of puddled lights that skim the shredded skin are still
just bruised and pebbled migrant ciss-crossing the rasp
of shadows merging groan this scaled ink slink
unravelling the invisibility point of dusk flushed
by rain-tipped sweeping to the
strumming of flailed rusting gnarl of barbed
scattered storm's web
inside the shingled overlapping
retreat to the speckled craw
tightening its tallons of night
that fence of sisyphean stuckism
where well versed footprints that curve the light
are lost to the funereal abstract of yesterday
