How powerful is an institution in denial? TATT advocates for a post-realist world of culture but can't envisage it being painted on a canvas!! Today it is the gen 'Z,' and tomorrow it will be the gen 'A', is there anything that would lead to believe in repetition, or in the extracting yourself from the tramlines of enforcing the cyber age, digital revolution, social media (which now has a certain appeal to teenagers to post their rebellion), or chat bots?!! So, do you think the dark web controls all? Well, there is a conspiracy not worth very much, but on the mainstream BBC, the series 'Capture' reveals to us that it is almost undetectable to fake a narrative by 'correction', to ruin your take on reality! At a time of so many 'reality TV' programmes????? Do we replace fake news with celebs or victims now? At least there is a tabloid in the room! Let’s leave 'the minority report' out of this when we can watch 'arse over tit'!! Art certainly does not mirror life or life mirror Art under such publicly acclaimed reality TV!!


This edge of the 2D world 'form' shit from TATT is more like a whirlpool that you can avoid by circumnavigating it! So, is that TATT being Luddite by backing tech over the hand of paint, or is this some disloyalty test from TATT to root out the herd, and is some 'earned attachment' stuff that wants to secretly reward those who don't follow the many but battle against TATT itself?? Is our resistance to TATT over the medium of Paint, by recognizing that even though the world may be round and limited that every time you navigate it around, by the time you want to repeat it, everything has changed ...so you have to start afresh all over again?? Should Painters have to commute to their work, or should they always find that their context has changed, their subject matter replenished, their paint spectrum is aggregated and not limited? Isn't freedom almost exclusively a human concept too, a universal suffrage for Art to thrive? How many Painters actually paint exactly the same (for whatever reason) of the above, and how many painters conform or rebel? Our encyclopaedia of our history isn't just an oral or written history of the past (between painters and academics etc for example) but it is our visual history, our auto and biographical place under the sun and moon on terrestrial Earth? Form stasis is TATTs way of imposing obstacles and then getting us to self-impose them, Paralysis by obstacle is enticing us to prevail over it!! TATT wants us to defy it and then claim it was their idea!! Now no one promised to be nursed or offered a handrail to guide us, it is up to each of us to shake, rattle and poll-axe out of it! If surrounded, how do you prevail? By doing what is not expected.... and what would that be?? Start with de-sectarianizing all Art media, by demanding to navigate visually, and then, ironically, by either limiting it to one moment caught on a canvas, or capturing (see what I did there? ) many possible image-making at every moment on one canvas!!


Rivalry is a must in the medium of Painting, and nothing but a mutually supportive nature of it will thrive! People often may say that the best rivalry is in football in Glasgow, not in London or Edinburgh, or Liverpool, or in Manchester etc!! Why? Because rivalry is based upon being loyal to your roots under the banner of your team, but always uniting under the Scottish flag at the national stadium ...even if they do beat the old enemy from England as a result!! Art is often tempestuous and fiercely debated, but we are the communicators of before (70,000 years ago) and always today!! Our rivalry has become the world of Paint versus the old enemy of The Art Top Table!! And as far as TATT is concerned, may their odds be never in their favour, and may the spirit of Columbus always be with the adventurers and not those terrified of what they might discover!!
