Black and white abstract pattern of intricate, maze-like zigzag lines fills the image, creating a textured and optical illusion effect.

But what if Modernist Painting creates a new opportunity of 'thinking both outside and inside the box both individually and collectively? Moreover, what if like Schrodinger's Cat there isn't and is a vanishing point as well as borders, parameters or polar opposites and yet there aren't? Welcome to 'Surreal Art' by Painting today, with or without a paradox. Isn't that what thinking outside, actually not just outside but beyond the box and into the past, present and future all at once, all in awe and yet all not intimidated by unlimited unfettered and unfiltered possibilities that only unlimited programming of Computers needing to be updated all the time endlessly just to compete......or not!!!?

Only in painting can you feel repulsion, desire, devotion, isolation allegiance etc These paintings can stare without compromise or backtracking like AI can that confronts unhesitatingly in your face implacably without moving an inch! This is a face-off that you can't win but you can metaphorically (to be potentially used as a weapon for your own resolve and yet do no harm and can guide you along a path of perspective (only in the main if not purchased or stolen) that re energises the concept of multiple perspective that both attract or repel exclude or include! Here once again we are met with the re-imagining of the great theatre of pain, power and loss of the human condition and the infinite ways we can strive to engage with the struggle to comprehend it visually! Why is the visual so important? Because it translates our past, present and future without divisive language to interfere, and is wholly imperfect because it's very human and non-mechanical and works on a number of levels to unmask or reveal the gargoyles and obstacle course of the irrationality of human nature etc, I could go on but I've referred to this issue in previous blogs etc You may hide your loses, your failure your victimhood but you aren't alone, because Painter's have been failing for eons before you and will continue to do so in the future - that's their superpower! Art isn't just replicatory, it's also beyond the confines of human intervention to control and centralise it!

No wonder that the 3 stages of modernism are almost over 300 years old right up to today's version, because they have and will explore that very course of that most precious of humanity, its identity and how it impacts ultimately differently intergenerationally just like any family, the family of Art will end in disaster or success but will unerringly even that will succumb to mortality or premature internal or external collapse but largely after internecine conflict! Modernism perpetuates Painting that has unlimited self-destructive instincts that we don't just resist, but we try and fail to complete, conclude it, finish it off or kill it off with each generation or version of modernist Painting whether it be post -impressionists or abstract expressionists, but in spite of all our human efforts, our self-imploding system of Modernist Painting just will not die, but will resurface in another generation beyond our control! And today we've no choice but to galvanize ourselves for yet another burst of power and destructive impulse in the post-communist new charismatic authoritarian nationalism and pan nationalism that modernist Painting urges us to assail!

So, for the first time we have multiple practitioner's enthused by 19th and 20th century versions accompanied by the non-passive non-sectarian 21st century emergence of mass Painter's to embrace and destroy determinism and extremism! Mind expanding 21st century depictions of our experiences will prevail ultimately at our own expense! Do not worry, in 50 years or so, Painting and modernism will once again rise in the 4th stage to undertake its job to debrutalise by both exposure of savagery and corruption of itself and the world around it to define a new era that it presides over, yet unable to avoid its own self-destruction! That is its destiny and its progressive function! Pick-up the reins if you dare, bare witness as a star is born or reborn and a star dies, imploding into a supernova that spreads its detritus all over the Universe! After all, Bertrand Russell stated that man's primary impulse is his capacity to self-destruct and Modernist Painting today will turn over the stone revealing the bugs and insects crawling all over it, only to replace it until the next Modernist era removes it, once again exposing what lies underneath it all! The odds of longevity aren't great for any stage of modernist Painting, and like the burn-up of the 19th century phase or the20th century phase of burn-out I submit the process of the end of the 21st centuries modernist Painting's rebirth will be one of internecine fragmentation, splits division and brutal take-overs that ultimately self-defeat! But hibernation is also a crucial indicator of its strength and marks the countdown to its own series of fusions and exclusions! Just as it isn’t just about crisis and recovery, its impermanence but cyclical reemergence thrives, even at its very death-rattle! Welcome to the symbiotic relationship with Painter and modernism that may actually be largely marginalised so as to redeem Art itself!
